On this episode of the Pawareness Podcast, we welcome Tracy Lystra, Founder of the Saving Huey Foundation, a non-profit organization located in Southern California that rescues abused and neglected animals, provides them with medical care and rehabilitation, finds them homes, and develops educations programs to increase public awareness of animal abuse. Tracy speaks on what it takes to make all of this happen, what their strict adoption process looks like and why it’s so strict, and what is considered an animal disability.
Tracy then talks about what you should do if you come across a stray or hurt animal, gives advice for aspiring animal rescuers, and sheds light on the difficulty of coping with all the abuse and neglect she sees every day.
“They’re not just rescue animals to me, they’re family members.”
- Tracy Lystra
Tune in to hear a story of a miracle dog, Braveheart, who survived a mouth full of firecrackers and received a surgery that changed the rest of his life!
“I believe that every life deserves a second chance.”
