Signed as an amateur FA by the Pirates in the early 1980s, Bonilla blossomed into one of MLB’s biggest stars in the late 1980s/early 1990s.
Bonilla was an All-Star multiple times, won Silver Slugger awards and even a World Series ring with the 1997 Florida Marlins.
However, his career has been somewhat lost in the shuffle due to a famous contract he signed with the Mets which saw him defer a lump sum of cash that he parlayed into a huge sum of money he currently receives today.
