Episode 211 of “The Sports Experience Podcast” is here & we’re back on the gridiron discussing Vinny Testaverde.
A standout Quarterback at the University of Miami (FL), Testaverde won the Heisman Trophy in 1986. Picked first overall by Tampa Bay in the 1987 NFL Draft, Testaverde struggled mightily on the incompetent franchise. Thankfully, Testaverde found much more success over the next six seasons in Cleveland, Baltimore and in New York with the Jets. Vinny even led the Jets to the AFC Championship Game in 1998!
Although he would never recapture the success of that ‘98 season, Testaverde played in nine more seasons as a starter & in a veteran backup role. He finished his 21-year career with 46,233 Passing Yards, 275 Touchdowns & made the Pro Bowl twice.
