Episode 236 of “The Sports Experience Podcast” is here & we’re back on the court discussing Yao Ming.
The son of talented basketball players, Yao developed into a dominant force on the hardwood in his native China for the Shanghai Sharks. At 7’6”, Yao dominated his competition so much he was selected by the Houston Rockets as the 1st overall pick in the 2002 NBA Draft.
Some questioned how well Yao would be able to transition to the talent level of the NBA. However, he put the doubts to rest & became one of the league’s premier big men for the Houston Rockets during the 00s. Although foot and leg injuries derailed his career in his prime, Yao was an 8x All-Star & eventually made the Naismith HOF!
