Episode 242 of “The Sports Experience Podcast” is here & we’re back on the hardwood discussing Clyde “The Glide” Drexler.
Though not heavily recruited out of High School, the high-flying Drexler established himself as one of college basketball’s most exciting players on the up-tempo “Phi Slamma Jamma” teams at the University of Houston in the early 1980s.
In the NBA, Drexler developed into one of the league’s best players as a sharp-shooting, high-flying wingman for the Portland Trail Blazers. Though Portland & Drexler lost in both of their trips to the NBA Finals, Drexler eventually got his ring in 1994-1995 with his hometown Houston Rockets.
Drexler averaged 20.0 PPG, 6.1 RPG, 5.6 APG for his career, won a gold medal with the 1992 “Dream Team” and was eventually inducted into the Naismith & College Basketball HOFs.
