Episode 253 of “The Sports Experience Podcast” is here & we’re continuing our block of episodes on the best men’s basketball coaches in the history of the Big East Conference. Today, we’re discussing Jim Calhoun.
After a successful career at Northeastern, Calhoun arrived in Storrs to find the Huskies as Bit East cellar dwellers. However, Calhoun turned UConn around and established the program as one of the Big East’s and nation’s best over the course of the coming decades.
Overall, Calhoun won an NIT title in 1988, won three NCAA D1 Championships, helped the Huskies win 10 Big East regular season titles as well as seven Big East tournament championships. Calhoun was a 4x Big East Coach of the Year, finished his career with 920 wins and is in the Naismith and College Basketball HOFs!
