Episode 259 of “The Sports Experience Podcast” is here & we’re back on the diamond discussing Keith Hernandez.
After he won a batting title & was named co-MVP in 1979, Hernandez established himself as arguably the best First Baseman in the National League during the 1980s.
The clutch Hernandez led the St. Louis Cardinals to a World Series title in 1982. Though his time in St. Louis ended the following season under a cloud of substance abuse, Hernandez rebounded to lead the Mets to a World Series title in 1986.
In addition to his prowess at the plate, Hernandez was MLB’s premier defender at first base during his career and won a total of 11 Gold Gloves.
