Raise your hand if you agree: Parenting is hard. Raise your hand if you think parenting kids with special needs adds another level of detail and intricacies to life.
Gina shares her journey with her four kids, three with Tourette's syndrome and how many humans have judge her and her "bad parenting" practices. Perhaps, she counters, we ought to start asking, "What am I missing?" instead of assuming it's the parents fault. We also discuss how #differentlyabled individuals have loads of talents and are making contributions that need to be highlighted and recognized.
To support others and help them along their journey, Gina wrote a book called Exceptionally Unordinary, chronicling her experiences thus far. A teacher before having and homeschooling her children, she discusses issues in our education system (spoiler: like restraining students with disabilities -- which actually exacerbates the situation). This conversation is incredible. I learned so much about Tourette's and what parents like me can do.
