Scripture: Mark 10:17-22
The passage begins by introducing to us the main character who approaches Jesus. And while mark says, “a man” Matt and Luke add these descriptions, “a wealthy, young and influential man.” Wealth and influence was surely something that he achieved through his works, years of hard labor, and so he thought that receiving God, His kingdom and Eternal life also could be achieved through labor and hard work. His confidence came from his possessions, he commanded because of this position, and he concentrated on his privileges. This is greed, it is dangerous and it is sinful. This a trap that even believers can also fall into.
