PHIL
Hello and a very warm welcome. It’s Friday, so that can only mean one thing: it’s Five in the Eye day. It’s Phil Woodford here with you on Colourful Radio and you’re listening to episode 0419. A prime number show!
MICHAEL
A prime number indeed - always special! This is me - Michael Ohajuru - joining Phil via Zoom and revealing that our top story is going to be immigration. As the government continue to push their controversial legislation through parliament, murals have been removed in asylum centres for kids. And on the continent, the issue of migration has caused the Dutch government to collapse.
PHIL
What’s story number two? Well, we take a look at the funding of political parties. The General Secretary of the trade union Unite has put Labour Leader Sir Keir Starmer ‘on notice’ that he must deliver for her members. Meanwhile, media reports tell us that the Tories received £5m from a former minister in Hosni Mubarak’s Egyptian government. Is it time for some new rules?
MICHAEL
For our third story, we ask whether it’s ok for grandparents to charge to look after their grandchildren?
PHIL
And for story number four, it’s the robbery that went wrong in America, when no one did what the criminal wanted.
MICHAEL
Finally, to wrap up the Eye this week, it’s the warning issued to visitors at a zoo in Toronto, Canada. Don’t show videos to the gorillas!
PHIL
No viewings of Planet of the Apes! And that’s this week’s Five in the Eye!
