PHIL

Hello. It’s Friday, so that can only mean one thing: it’s Five in the Eye day here on Colourful Radio. In London, I’m Phil Woodford and you’re listening to episode 0424 of our weekly news review.

MICHAEL

And this is me - Michael Ohajuru - joining Phil via Zoom and revealing that our top story is going to be the potential closure of the course in African history at University of Chichester. We’re going to be talking to two of the students affected.

PHILAnd for story number two, it’s Donald Trump. He’s now facing charges in Georgia over attempts to manipulate the 2020 election result. Add that to Stormy Daniels, documents in the bathroom at Mar-a-Lago and the January 6th insurrection and things are looking lively for the former president.

MICHAEL

What’s story number three? Well, it’s two penpals who started to writing to each other 70 years ago. They kept it going and have now met up for the very first time.

PHILFor our fourth story, it’s the Lionesses’ victory against the Matildas and the prospect that England’s women footballers could bring home the World Cup.

MICHAEL

And to wrap up the show - at number five - it’s our annual survey of the best gags from the Edinburgh fringe.

PHIL

None of those one-liners compare to yours, Michael. They actually make people laugh! And that’s this week’s Five in the Eye!
