PHIL
It’s Friday morning and Five in the Eye has come calling. Yes, it’s your weekly news review here on Colourful Radio and you’re listening to episode 0430. A very warm welcome from me - Phil Woodford - here in London.
MICHAEL
And a warm welcome from me - Michael Ohajuru - too! I’m joining Phil via Zoom this week and revealing that our top story is going to be the speech in the USA by Home Secretary Suella Braverman, in which she asked for the world to rip up the long-standing agreements over the rights of refugees.

And earlier this week, the Lib Dems wrapped up their conference in Bournemouth. It seems like a good opportunity to ask: what exactly is the party for? And what role might it play in the forthcoming general election. That’s story number two on Five in the Eye.
MICHAEL
What’s story number three? Well, it’s the news that an Irish university has introduced what the media describe as an ‘influencer’ degree. Is there more to it than meets the eye?
PHIL
And as NASA brings asteroid dust back to Earth for analysis, we could learn a huge amount about the origins of the universe. It’s a massive achievement for science and it’s story number four this week.
MICHAEL
Finally, this week, how much are you prepared to pay for a sandwich. Jaws were dropping this week when it was revealed that a Pret cheese baguette now costs a princely £7.15 to eat in.
PHIL
You’d best stick to Greggs, Michael! And that’s this week’s Five in the Eye!
