MICHAEL
Good morning! It’s Friday, so that can only mean one thing: it’s Five in the Eye day on Colourful Radio. This is me - Michael Ohajuru - welcoming you to episode 0316 of our weekly news review show.

And this is Phil Woodford joining Michael via Zoom this week and revealing that our top story is going to be the Covid epidemic. As cases took an unexpected plunge in the past week or two, how positive can we be? And what about the government’s suggestion that we might need to show vaccine passports for clubs, football matches or even to attend university?
MICHAEL
Story number two this week is the pronouncements of Prime Minister Boris Johnson about crime, clearly designed to excite Tory supporters. He wants named police officers for crime victims - something Labour Leader Keir Starmer has denounced as a ‘gimmick’. And he is also in favour of chain gangs of criminals working in the street in hi-viz jackets.

And as a woman in south-west London was quizzed by cops over a large cash withdrawal to buy a car, we ask whether banks are becoming a bit too nosy about what we do with our own money. That’s story number three today.
MICHAEL
And what’s our fourth story? It’s the exciting new landmark in the heart of London. Or… err… perhaps not. I’ve seen the now-famous mound of Marble Arch at first hand and confirm that it is somewhat underwhelming!
PHIL
And finally this week, if you feel like ordering a plate of chips, we wouldn’t recommend travelling to the Serendipity 3 restaurant in Manhattan. The gold-plated snack will set you back… wait for it… $200.
MICHAEL
In Abbey Wood, you can pick up a portion of chips for half that price. What’s the world coming to? And that’s this week’s Five in the Eye!
