MICHAEL

Hello and a very warm welcome to Five in the Eye. I’m Michael Ohajuru and you’re listening to the latest edition of Colourful Radio’s weekly news review show. In fact, it’s episode 0224.

PHIL

And joining Michael via Zoom this week, it’s Phil Woodford, revealing that our top story is going to be sudden emergence of a new alliance called AUKUS which involves Australia, UK and the USA. The French had their noses put out of joint - ooh la la - but Boris Johnson has told them: ‘Donnez-moi a break’.

MICHAEL

And what’s story number two? Well, it seems that fewer of us are wearing masks on public transport these days, so has coronavirus disappeared? From next year, the government is threatening to charge for those lateral flow tests we all use. Would you pay for them?

PHIL

For our third story, it’s the idea that employees may be able to demand flexible working from their first day in the job. But how realistic is the policy in the modern business world?

MICHAEL

Story number four is about kindness. The BBC and the University of Sussex have launched a large online survey to find out more about what it means.

PHIL

And to cap off the show, at number five, it’s the brave - or perhaps foolhardy - man who walked a tightrope from the Eiffel Tower. And Michael’s experience of daredevils closer to home.

MICHAEL

We’re always walking a tightrope with this show! And that’s this week’s Five in the Eye!
