PHIL

Hello and a very warm welcome to episode 0418 of Five in the Eye - Colourful Radio’s weekly news review show. In London, this is Phil Woodford.

MICHAEL

And joining Phil via Zoom this week, it’s me - Michael Ohajuru - revealing that our top story is going to be one that you may not have heard of. It’s the strife between Hindus and Christians in the north-eastern Indian state of Manipur, which has already led to at least 100 deaths. We ask: what does it take for something to become news?

PHIL

And for story number two, we return to the Tory Party, which seems to be in even further disarray over the past week. A right-wing faction calling themselves The New Conservatives seems to be creating a headache for Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.

MICHAEL

And what’s story number three this week? Well, a shop in swanky Knightsbridge is selling ice creams in a variety of unusual flavours. Soy sauce or Branston Pickle, anyone?

PHIL

For our fourth story, the Orkney Islands are considering abandoning the UK to become part of Norway!

MICHAEL

And finally, to wrap up the show at number 5, it’s the girl in America who was so obsessed with vampires, she turned up to her school prom in a coffin!

PHIL

Now, that’s just bats! And that’s this week’s Five in the Eye!
