PHIL

It’s Friday and you know that can only mean one thing: it’s Five in the Eye day! I’m Phil Woodford, this is episode 0376 and, of course, you’re listening to Colourful Radio.

MICHAEL

And this is me - Michael Ohajuru - joining Phil and revealing that our top story this week is the plans of the government to create low-tax zones in the UK to encourage investment and growth? Free-market madness? Or a radical way of levelling up?

PHIL

Our second story is the extraordinary spectacle of the funeral on Monday for Queen Elizabeth. A remarkable show of pageantry, but what exactly does it tell us about what it means to be British?

MICHAEL

And what’s story number three this week? Well, we’ve discovered that many of the flags to commemorate the Queen were being made in China. Should we care where our merch comes from?

PHIL

For story number four, we look at a poll that says King Charles is surprisingly popular. But apparently, he’s scared of cling film! More later!

MICHAEL

And to wrap up the show this week, it’s the Ig Nobel Awards - the prizes for particularly weird and wonderful pieces of academic research. Their criteria for judging is that the particular study ‘first makes you laugh, then makes you think’.

PHIL

They could be talking about your favourite news review show. That’s this week’s Five in the Eye!
