Hushed Tones: a podcast by Tools For The Times & Not A Playground, hosted by HKU Salon.
Invited by Salon, these two collectives will enter into a conversation about the phenomenon of 'whisper culture' in the one-time podcast 'Hushed Tones', an informal chain of conversations between women about men who must be monitored because of rumors, accusations, or known incidents of sexual misconduct, harassment or, assault. In this podcast both the positive and negative sides of this phenomenon are highlighted and various experiences within the HKU are discussed. Are whisper networks a form of resistance or a form of concern? Are whisper networks necessary in institutions like the HKU? Is this something you personally participate in? And if so, does this affect your creative work as a student?
