Our democracy is in danger. Donald Trump is tipping us into his autocratic rule, aided by Mitch McConnell. 200,000 dead from the Coronavirus and he wants a mandate to continue acting out as badly as he has so far?! Now trying to replace Ruth Bader Ginsburg (RBG) while 2020 voting has already started, after McConnell and the self-righteous Republicans declared in March 2016 that Barack Obama nominating a replacement for Antonin Scalia on the Supreme Court could not be accepted! It was too close to election day!! 8 months away. And now we are actually in the process of the elections with Election Day itself less than 6 weeks away.
Now, to fight this unscrupulous sneak attack on our sense of fairness and justice by Mitch McConnell, our patriotism is called upon to save our country. Our politicians must do what they have been destined to do. And they must do it Obstinately!!! As the Republicans play, our heroes must fight back with equal force! And up the ante!!
Despite RBG's dying wish that her replacement not be confirmed until a new president has been installed, Mitch McConnell has elected not to respect her wish. But Senate Democrats have the power to stop him and his unethical Republicans.
The Senate runs on unanimous consent. If a single Senator objects to anything, even routine procedure, everything grinds to a halt. That is what Senate Democrats must do: block unanimous consent on every single thing for the rest of the year and until Inauguration Day. They will have to battle to exhaustion, like good soldiers! It will be America's best chance to stop Trump and McConnell from ruthlessly damaging our country.
This poem was written in September of 2017. It has the feeling of today and the evil seething our towers, steaming them up with ANGER!!
