On the 31st episode of Judy’s Jungle we have Jesse from 29 pedals to share some stories, share some jams, and walk us through the world of audio engineering. Kate joins us as you can hear her squealing and laughing in the background. We had taken a hiatus because of summer. We were busy travelling, swimming, walking with no direction, camping (in a car), and dancing with new shoes in different cities. As summer is coming to an end (for us at least) we are back. It took a while to get Jesse to join us, but it was worth the wait as we immediately jump into the importance of Richard & Linda Thompson and other stories of meeting long shots that we have always admired. Jesse starts off with a bang...Little Richard, the founder of Rock n’ Roll! He follows Little Richard with one of our favorites, Professor Longhair, and explains how all you need is a laundry mat to change the course of music. We change the template a bit this time as Jesse plays three songs off the bat instead of two, but how could we push the pause button as he immediately dives into Diana Ross & the Supremes! He discusses how the label Motown sets the precedent of everything that helps us feel good and gives us warmth. As we sit in my living room it is nonstop chatter about what we all love. MUSIC. Jesse talks how Kate Bush makes him cry, we all agree crying is something normal when we listen to music. Elvis Costello becomes a stranger in his own house and as we are so enthusiastic with our conversation we completely forget to talk about the song. Maybe we don’t mind strangers. This episode is a long player and we jump from topic, to themes, to stories, and to complete mind blown amazement. Thank you Jesse, we love you. We end the episode with Jesse talking about the pedals that he makes that helps artists, musicians, and non-compliant conformists with their ideas of what music means to them, how everyone should be able to hear or make whatever they want. It was an amazing Sunday afternoon, sipping on radlers, laughing, and both of us asking each other questions while Kate just wants to talk about the band Wings. We cannot explain what an honor it was for Jesse to join us as he explains dunking his head in water to make sure soundcheck is at its most audio frequency possible. It doesn’t matter where you are, what age you are, or what musical format you are listening to, it all comes down to the sound music gives us, as we lay in bed and wait for the music to complete our night.
