Description

On the 30th episode of Judy's Jungle we have the artists R. Geste (Julie Spielman) join us to share some songs, talk about her art and bring both of us to tears in the end. Julie is show casing her art on May 14th 2022 at the gallery Hernando's Hideaway in Miami Florida. As Julie and I always do when we see each other, we talk about music, jammers, rippers, and what gets us through the day. Julie talks about starting over with her art, how and why it is important to her and most importantly, her will to always be coming up with new ideas that that play with words and tapestry. Julie shares OOIOO, Terry Riley, the infamous Bauhaus, Stevie Wonder (happy birthday Stevlin Morris) and wraps it up with one of my favorite Brian Eno songs. Julie talks about the importance of love songs, why and how the word "success" is suppose to have meaning, and why the record/movie "the point" by Nillson brings both of so much joy. We all need a dog named Arrow. Side note, Elvis Presley is the wrong person to represent America, Julie agrees. It could not have been a more pleasant afternoon as I made her potato tacos and her dog Saturn lays on her lap with so much love. In the end we talk about colors, what they mean and how we depict them. Julie has me pull a card from her stack from the series of oblique strategies (Brian Eno and Peter Schmidt) that we both agreed should be the ending of the show. Thank you Julie, I hold you close to my heart, and make sure to stay true to your patience.
