Do you struggle with taking compliments? Or is the impost still to change the subject before a compliment can be delivered. Whatever needs to be done to deflect, deflect, deflect.
π§ This episode gets into 'discounting the positives."
There are some moms out there that can relate to this especially mine.
It's basic, yet a hard habit to break.
π§ Here is one simple exercise I've learned: Catch it, Check it, Change it
π§ Next social settings (zoom call), give it a try. The steps are below.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
1) Catch it: Hearing a compliment, getting that anxiety that leads to deflection. Even slight panic.
2)Check it: Breath at that moment. Listen.
Let them finish.
3) Change it: Thank you.
That's it. No matter how many times I've heard this...it's still an exercise I come back to from time to time.
Practicing this one exercise can make compliments way less painfulπ
Everything I share is based on my own mental health, some of which you may find useful as you continue on your journey.
