This Labor Day weekend was marked by so much positive work being done to help people and further the efforts for justice reform. From NoMoreNames partnering up with other groups to march in the streets during a heatwave to organizations, such as 'BlackWomen Lead' and Water Drop LA, getting water out to people without homes. Wellness groups taught yoga and exercise classes in the park while others were signing people up to vote. Meals continued to be delivered to elderly residents with pre-existing conditions via non-profits like Project Angel Food. Small businesses prepped meals to feed families. During the course of this Pandemic, it has been the people coming together making a positive impact that's made all the difference in the world. Fortunately, the circumstances right now don't seem as bleak as the Great Depression that lasted about ten years, it is yet and still our modern-day Great Depression. With the loss of so many small businesses, social unrest, people losing their lives, jobs, homes, and health insurance while an uncaring president and senate continue to withhold trillions in economic aid. It's been the people as well as a few officials doing everything in their power to not allow this pandemic to lead us further down the rabbit hole. We have homeless populations that are starting to resemble Hoovervilles. To get this nation back on track, and to help small businesses become healthy again, it may take a 2020 version of the New Deal to get the economy going again. May we wisely choose who represents us moving forward.
π§ The symbolism that this is Labor Day and so many people are out there fighting for what they believe in.
π§ I donβt want us to lose what this Labor Day was, so many powerful levels of people coming together to help each other. People were marching during a heatwave to call again for social and economic justice.
π§ While the government is unwilling or unable to help the populace, the people met the challenges, there were healing workers, yoga meet-ups, people doing everything they can to keep everybody healthy, sane and whole.
