All of our episodes this month are dedicated to talking about mental health, as we know it is the other “pandemic”. Dealing with your mental health sometimes can feel like a battle, but know WE ARE HERE FOR YOU and seeking professional help is not only courageous, but empowering! Through sharing stories and people’s journeys, we hope it makes you feel less alone.
As a continuum of our May Mental Health Conversations, Alexandra and Helene take a deep dive on how the pandemic has affected people’s mental health in all aspects of their lives. We talk about reclaiming our power, and how do we move forward in this new phase of the pandemic.
Then, Advocacy Director Caitlin from Cor-a joins us, and candidly talks about her experience with depression and anxiety starting in her early teens through entering college. When thoughts or feelings of anxiety and depression arose, she was told “ Well, don’t be sad. Cheer up!” Basically, suck up your feelings. Coming from a small town, everyone knew each other’s business, making it even harder for Caitlin to express how she felt. It wasn’t until she got to Penn State that she was able to escape the darkness and get the help she always needed and deserved from a therapist at CAPS.
