Bagel Recipe

yields 1 bagel

in a cup I use a Pyrex 2 cup measuring cup.

Heat water and put ¼ cup of warm water into the cup

add ½ teaspoon sugar and ½ teaspoon of yeast to the warm water stir until mixed.

Let set until foamy about 5 to 10 minutes.

Add ½ c of flour to the yeast mixture

Mix with a fork until all the flour has absorbed the yeast mixture

dump out onto a floured surface and knead for 10 minutes. Add flour as needed so not to stick.

(This is where you add the extras if you want)

Oil a bowl place kneaded dough into the bowl and let it rise until doubled about 15 to 30 minutes

dump out and shape into a bagel... basically just make a center hole. (I've added it before putting it into the oiled bowl)

Pre heat oven to 425

boil water add 1 Tablespoon of either sugar or honey to the water.

Boil for 3-5 minutes on each side

slightly dry by placing on paper towel

Then place on baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes...at the 18 minute mark keep an eye on the bagel it will burn if you aren't paying attention.

Remove let cool slightly

cut

add butter, cream cheese, honey, etc.

enjoy.
