I’m BORED! Have you ever heard someone in your family use those words?
Most of us have.
I banned that word from my house. Whenever someone said they were bored, I gave them two options:
First, there is always work that can be done. Secondly, find something to do.
There are always creative things that we can do at home. You just need to put some thought and imagination into your day.
The list of enjoyable things you can do is inexhaustible. I am going to share several fun things to do at home and elsewhere. Some of the events are best done at appropriate times of the year. Enjoy!
Invite your friends over for a night of dominoes, Scrabble, Risk, and charades.
Have a wine and cheese tasting party.
Scheme a harmless prank together.
Have a potluck dinner; ask each person to bring their signature dish.
Create rituals and traditions to celebrate each season with your friends. For example, go to an Irish pub each St. Patrick’s Day and have green beer, go to a screening of “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” every October, and play Secret Santa each December.

Get a group of friends together when it’s hot out, find a hill, and go ice block sledding.
Create a scrapbook to document cherished family moments.
Make homemade mini pizzas.
Try a science experiment: make a lava-spewing volcano or make a battery from a potato.
Have a water balloon fight.
Play with squirt guns.
Have a tickle fight.
Make banana splits.
Brush up on the constellations and go for a star-gazing walk.
Draw a mural together.

Have a family awards night and find something positive to highlight each member of the family.
Start a book club with your friends. Take turns holding the meetings in each others’ homes; the host is in charge of the refreshments. You can read the classics, current bestsellers, or any literary genre you’re all interested in.
Have a foam sword fight.
Create a “time capsule” with a few personal items and bury it in the backyard with the intent to dig it up in ten years time.
Visit a nearby pond and feed the ducks.
Put together a family recipe cookbook.

Create skits and plays. Have a talent show.
Have a family movie night. Make popcorn, put on your pajamas, and huddle under a large blanket.
Make miniature boats and float them in a nearby body of water.
Create a Compliment Board by hanging up a Dry Erase Board which everyone in the family can use to compliment each other. For example:
Have a themed dinner night –Italian, Mexican, Chinese, and so on. Cook a national dish from that country, put up the country’s flag, and play music and watch a movie from that country.
Have a treasure hun
