I dedicate this episode to Amanda Gorman! The young, talented, poet laureate recently had her inaugural poem, "The Hill We Climb" restricted from elementary school kids by ONE parent in Miami-Dade, Florida. In this episode, I explore why her poem was considered controversy and had "indirectly hate messages"???
I also take a slight detour and mention the new ridiculous black history teaching standards in, where else, Florida. The new standards want teachers to teach the narrative that "slavery was beneficial to black people".
