We take a detour from our usual topics and explore an increasingly important region in the Philippines, Muslim Mindanao. While the region is often associated with conflict and other pejorative stereotypes, our guest, Yashira Moner, shows us that Muslim Mindanao is far more complex; that there is much to learn from Mindanaoan culture and politics. We also discuss a variety of political, cultural, and administrative issues that continue to challenge the development of Mindanao and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao.
