When last we left our heroes, the Misfortunates had escaped Estwald after a new faction moved in and took over; the cultists of Liesa, a fallen archangel. Their leader, Sinead Okonor, wielded immense power by drawing directly on the faith of her followers.
It was possible they could return to the city and their stronghold there as Sinead had not witnessed them commit any crime against her people, but that remained to be seen.

There, after a long and thirsty journey on the road--Anna's vampiric bloodlust nearly got the better of her. Until, that is, an icy hand wrapped itself around her upraised arm--preventing any violence. It was the iron grip of Mathas Fiendseeker--the vampire bounty hunter who they'd attacked while he was vulnerable some time ago. The expression on his face made it clear that there was some explaining to do, and he was in no mood for shenanigans.
