Description

On December 13th 1981, Konrad Bartelski put British Ski racing on the map by finishing second place, just 0.11 seconds behind Erwin Resch which was the highest place won by a Briton in any World Cup race until it was equalled in 2017 by Dave Ryding.

In part 1 of our conversation, we talk about his ski journey, and the day of his now famous race, plus what it was like to train during that era. Konrad also lets us in as to what drove him to seek to achieve this success and how his love for the mountains was spurred on by his father's experiences in Canada.

Not only avid skier - Konrad's other passion is photography, which we dive into more in part two. If you want to see some of his work - check it out with the link below.

We also discuss the work Konrad does as the President of the BackUp Trust, who are transforming lives after spinal cord injury. Please take a moment to look at the work this great charity is doing.
