Joe Cliffe is a legend in the sport of wrestling in Illinois. He's a member of the Illinois Wrestling Coaches & Officials Hall of Fame, was voted the IWCOA Class 1A coach of the year in 2003 and 2010, has served as president of the National High School Athletic Coaches Association, was a national coach of the year finalist in 2006, named "Man of the Year” by the Illinois Wrestling Coaches and Officials Association in '91, and much more.
As a competitor, Joe was a two-time USA Greco Roman National Champion and a member of the 1973 University World Team on which he placed 6th in the World Games in Moscow, Russia. Joe also placed third at the United States Olympic Freestyle Team Trials in 1972.
He’s had over 500 dual meet wins as a coach, but the amount of lives he’s positively influenced far surpasses that number.
