Description

The Sega Genesis released in 1989, but it was not until Sonic the Hedgehog would release in June of 1991 that Sega would really begin to gain market share against Nintendo. The release of Sonic as well as an aggressive ad campaign, would lead to Sega bringing serious competition to Nintendo for the first time. Sega followed up the Genesis with creating the Sega CD which brought a new level of audio as well as improved visuals to the system. Unfortunately, Sega released the 32X shortly before the Saturn would release and would essentially mark the beginning of Sega retreating from console manufacturing. We discuss all of that and a whole lot more on this episode of the Nerdthusiast Gaming Podcast!
