Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix 2022:
George Russell gave the surprise by achieving pole position at the Hungarian Grand Prix beating the two Ferraris.
Qualifying for the 2022 Hungarian Grand Prix took place and it was George Russell who took pole, giving everyone a surprise. The Briton overtook the two Ferraris, who will leave tomorrow with the aim of hunting down the Mercedes.
Russell surprises Formula 1
George Russell managed to make a final dream lap with which he surprised everyone and thus achieved his first pole position in Formula 1. The Hungaroring was not especially a track where Mercedes was going to shine, but the #63 was able to make the most of it and take advantage of his car.
At 44 thousandths, Carlos Sainz stayed behind on pole. The Spaniard has been very fast throughout the weekend and was very close to taking his second pole, but an incredible last lap from Russell deprived him of his goal.
Charles Leclerc was also unable to take advantage of his great one-lap pace and will start from third position tomorrow, having looked less competitive than his team-mate during today's session.
red bull disaster
The two Red Bulls have not been able to complete the classification that they would have liked, and tomorrow they will have a lot of work ahead of them if they do not want to lose too many points with their Italian rivals.
Max Verstappen will start from tenth position after having many problems in Q3. The Dutchman had shown great pace throughout the day, but a mistake at the first attempt in Q3 and subsequent errors with his engine deprived him of completing a final attempt.
Sergio Pérez, for his part, had many problems with the track limits and with the traffic during the track, so he was affected. All this, added to his usual problems with the car, deprived him of being able to contest Q3.
