In the early 70s, she was an English major at Cal State Fullerton when her professor Willis McNelly asked her and a few other students to write to Philip K. Dick, who was going through a rough patch. A month later, Linda and her friend Tim Powers (the author who would go on to win the World Fantasy Award) picked up Phil Dick at LAX when he moved to Orange County. A young college student at the time, Linda was a short-lived crush for Phil.Linda shares personal stories about her time at Cal State Fullerton, hanging out with Phil, Harlan Ellison, and Norman Spinrad.
