Global Surveyors Day

Throughout history, surveyors have remained the pioneers of discovery shaping our world to its current existence by exploring the unknown on earth and in space. Global Surveyors’ Day is a day to recognize the ground-breakers, pioneers, individuals and the industry that has shaped our history and continues to be the foundation of our communities.
Todays podcast is a celebration to the pioneers, the surveyors of old, who paved the way to the surveyors today. It is a tribute to all the surveyors, with one in particular, Len Beadell. He was known as one of the last of the great explorers of Australia, because of his lifetime of work of surveying, mapping and creating access to a vast portion of the Australian Outback.
The recording from today comes from the Annual Conference of Rotary District 982 at the Shepparton Civic Centre on the 2nd March 1991. I wish to thank the family of Len for allowing me to use some of this recording. The recording is being played with the permission of his children Connie, Gary & Jacqui Beadell. The talk is available for purchase from the family at Len Beadell Publications, website www.lenbeadell.com.au. It is now also available set to pictures in DVD format.
