We always have three choices in any relationship. We can accept things as they are. We can ask for change. We can remove ourselves. There are many ways that people can be difficult. Two patterns that can be challenging are victims and bullies. Not suprisingly, bullies and victims often interact with each other like a symbiotic pair.
