In this episode I talk about my experience with tackling the craziest things I've ever done in my life as well as reflect on my Grandfather who was a POW surviver of WWII. - His story of father dying at early age, worked through childhood, fought in WW2 was a POW, broke off engagement, had 5 successful kids and tons of grandchildren, phone ringing all the time. Lived to be 95. - Stand on shoulders of giants - "Asked him craziest and wildest things he has done." Getting engaged and going off to war. - 3 Craziest things I've done so far in life: 1. Doing marathon - no training - Hood to coast, felt great - big believer of just signing up - Talk about training - mile 14 wondering what I had signed up for - rainy day, slowly slogged my way through it in over 5 hours, nothing to write home about, but did it 2. Skydiving - Explain experience getting there riding up (farm, small plane, enough for 3 people) - Falling through a cloud - Not like a rollar coaster - Landing wanting to just hold on to the ground - layed on ground for at least a couple minutes - look to the sky and think that is not supposed to happen, but it did! 3 Traveling the world on Semester at Sea - Forever changed - forget about day-to-day, but great to be able to reflect on those moments - meet people, push your comfort zone - realize that not everyone does things like the US - cultural days, norms, best practices, food, music - Memories everywhere from Russia to the Bahamas, but some of my favorite places were Ireland Morocco - Ireland like Oregon, beer, music, nice people - Morocco - culture shock, camels in the Sahara Reflection: What's the craziest thing you've ever done? Next episode: An interview with my room mate.
