In this episode we look at Adam's job description, and how it continues the theme in Genesis 2 of the garden of Eden being a temple where God not only dwells, but also where God wants to consistently meet with Adam. We take a closer look at the terms "tend" and "keep" and how they are connected to the roles and responsibilities of priests in the Israelite Tabernacle of Meeting. Essentially, Adam is being framed as a priest in God's garden temple of Eden.
We then show how Jesus, as our High priest, fulfills this priestly role by being faithful to God in tending and keeping the things that he was given stewardship of - his body and followers.
Genesis 2:15 - the text we focus on in the podcast
Numbers 3:5-9 - the priests in the Tabernacle are given the same roles and responsibilities as Adam, but for "tending" and "keeping" the Tabernacle and its ministry. Essentially the Tabernacle is a microcosm of the garden of Eden, which in turn was the place where God dwelled on earth with his divine council.
Hebrews 3:1-2 - Jesus is named our High Priest and was faithful to God
