Description

Every story has a hero and a villain, and the more you know about both, the more intriguing the story is. If Jesus is the hero, then who is the villain? In this episode we encounter the villain for the first time in the story of the Bible. The tricky thing about this villain is that it is not entirely clear who they are. The word "serpent" has at least three different meanings in Hebrew, which can all point to different facets of the the villain's character and appearance. We discuss these three meanings, and their implications for our understanding of the "serpent." We also look at the strategy the "serpent" uses with Eve, and what that can tell us about the villain.
