Description

In this episode we look at the consequences of the serpent's (nachash) choice to tempt Eve, as well as Adam and Eve's choice to eat the fruit. This introduces a new level of conflict between the serpent and his seed, and the woman and her seed. The nature of this conflict between these two seeds is named and illustrated in John 8:37-47 when Jesus exposes the plans of the Pharisees to kill him. He says they want to kill him because they are the "children of the devil,'' i.e. the seed of the serpent. The good news is that Jesus stepped into this conflict and struggled against the seed of the serpent, and resolved that conflict within himself.

Genesis 3:14-19 "And you shall eat dust all the days of your life" In the Akkadian version of The Descent of Inanna/Ishtar where the fertility goddess visits the underworld and returns 3 days later, it describes the realm of the dead as a place "where dirt is their food and clay their fare."
