Ok, this episode is different…because I surrender my seat as host and am interviewed by Anima Mea—a new podcaster to the scene about to launch her very own show…Call me Sentimental—a podcast about modern dating, relationships, love, and taboo subjects. Anima uses her interrogation skills to drill me gently on polyamory, consent, love, kinks and fetishes, and sex clubs, all while sprinkling in the magic dust of my cynical pessimism on the meaning of life, suffering, and existentialism. Who knew love and death could be gnarled into the same sentence to give meaning to life in an otherwise bleak world?—This guy, that’s who. Anima is genuinely interested in, and curious about the multifaceted sex-positive communities, how we navigate them, where we enter and exist, and what causes us to do so. She prods sensitive topics with well-placed questions to understand my personal experiences as they intertwine with my access, interest, and interaction with these communities. Anima has an empathetic approach that digs at the emotional, while leaving space for catharsis in talking about things like heartbreak and loneliness, which is what you should expect to hear when her podcast comes out in the next couple of weeks. Her show, Call me Sentimental, will focus on love, relationships, and modern dating, in the first season, followed by taboos and secret societies in the second, so stay tuned!
