Description

Episode 9 of our book read/podcast covering every chapter in an open source textbook to act as a free supplement to social psychology topics and concepts. In this episode its MIDTERMS! Being halfway through the book we thought about putting together a special episode on topics covered. Its got conformity, social roles, shifts in self-schema, shock machines, prisons in the basement of the Stanford psychology department, and two psychologists of world renown. As these two giants intersect in psychological and pop culture history, both have risen to the highest echelons of status in the community, but one continues to be the target of controversy. In this episode we want to present the backgrounds, studies, and post-study issues regarding two of the most famous psychological studies of all time: The Milgram Obedience Study and the Stanford Prison Study.
