This Sunday we celebrate the 2nd Sunday of Lent, Year C. As we journey through the scriptures from the lectionary, we go from seeking God's face in the entrance antiphon, to proclaiming that the Lord is our light and salvation in the psalm. And in the gospel acclamation and communion antiphon, both taken from Matthew's account of the transfiguration of Christ, God speaks to us directly: identifying Jesus as his beloved son and commanding us to listen to him.
Entrance Antiphon
Of you my heart has spoken: Seek his face.
It is your face, O Lord, that I seek;
hide not your face from me.
(Psalm 27:8-9)
Psalm 27
"The Lord is my light and my salvation."
Gospel Acclamation
From the shining cloud the Father’s voice is heard:
This is my beloved Son, hear him.
(Matthew 17:5)
Communion Antiphon
This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased;
listen to him.
(Matthew 17:5)
