Should we pray for material needs?

This is a continuation of the last message. This is a deeper study into the Bible examples. God has said, “My people perish because of the lack of knowledge”.

We had started our attempt at closing the 13th door from the last message. This door isn’t one that closes easily.

Genesis 1:1

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

God is the creator of the material world. He created all living and nonliving things.

Psalm 24:1

The earth is the LORD’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it;

The Lord is the landlord of the earth in other words. And he will give it to those whom He loves.

Psalm 115:16

The highest heavens belong to the LORD, but the earth he has given to mankind.

God has not created anything bad. It was only when man was led astray, then there was the origin of something evil.

Material things are given as blessings from the Lord.

Deuteronomy 28:8

The Lord will send a blessing on your barns and on everything you put your hand to. The LORD your God will bless you in the land he is giving you.

The following verses 11 till 13 contain blessings which all should claim into their lives.

1 Timothy 6:17

...God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.

In Matthew 6:11 we read how Jesus taught the disciples to pray for their material needs.

Philippians 4:6-7

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

By reading Matthew 7:7-11 we see, God is a better giver of good gifts than man is.

James 1:17

Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.

We should pray and claim this scripture passage into our lives! There is nothing God cannot do in our lives. God hates grumbling and murmuring. As humans, we like the grateful. It is the same with God, he wants us to be grateful for everything we have been given in life.

While reading Matthew 6:25-34 we understand we should never worry about anything in life. God will always make sure we have everything we need in life. He knows what we truly need in life more than ourselves.

We should always adorn an attitude of gratitude and the blessings of God will overflow in our lives!
