Dr. Emmanuel Fasanya, PT, DPT, CSOMT details us through his motivating journey to physical therapy school at TWU, after several face to face meetings with PT advisors and fighting a lower GPA. Also known as "My Concierge PT", he details his road to entrepreneurship, starting with his residency at the Carrell Clinic. He credits his growth to mentorship from fellow PTs Adeeb Khalfe of Movement Evolution and Norah Hemeida and training at the Institute of Athlete Regeneration (IAR), as well as work with childhood friend Taylor Gabriel and other college/NBA/NFL clientele. He delves deep into the concept of physical therapists as doctors, studying anatomy and physiology with the purpose of injury rehabilitation and post-surgery work and growing their expertise in not affecting other medical diagnoses. Dr. Fasanya also highlights the importance of patient education as a PT, and how to prevent injury to have them workout, run, or participate in sport pain free. DEI (diversity, equity, inclusion) was also mentioned as Dr. E discussed what it was like to be one of the few black individuals in his program and how to advocate for PT for minorities and educate others on what physical therapists do.
