Description

During the current pandemic, mental health has emerged as a top priority when thinking about a post-Covid world. The emergence of this trend creates uncertainty around the long-term impacts of the crisis on future generations. While related, yet uniquely different to the trend, today’s episode focuses on mental health and genealogical wellness, and how the problems and suffering of one person in the family affects everyone in the family, even across generations or what is more increasingly becoming known as inter-generational trauma.

This episode’s guest is Florence Reiss Kraut, a psychiatric social worker, family therapist, and published author whose work has led her to uncover valuable insights in the genealogical wellness space. She recently released her book, How to Make a Life, which is a sweeping saga that follows three generations from the tenements of Brooklyn through WWII, from Woodstock to India, and from Spain to Israel, the book is the story of a family who must learn to accept each other’s differences―or risk cutting ties with the very people who anchor their place in the world.
