On December 24th, 1881 in Ashland, Ky., the Gibbons' family residence was engulfed by flames at the corner of 28th Street and Carter Avenue. It was suspected that three teens named Fannie Gibbons, Robert Gibbons, and Emma Thomas were trapped inside and burned alive. However, soon it was evident that brutal murders and sexual assaults occurred.
