Gary Ridgway, aka the Green River Killer, murdered 49+ women in Washington during the 1980s and 1990s - his nickname stemming from the first five victims being discovered in the Green River. He strangled them from the back, mostly with his arm but occasionally using ligatures. After strangling the women, he would dump their bodies throughout overgrown areas in King County.
