Welcome to the #FindYourFizzPodcast. This episode is dedicated to any medical students/ health professionals out there.
If you know a medical student - you will know how stressful and tough medical school can be, but more so during a global pandemic.
On this week’s show I have one of my good friends Frazer Snowden, a 5th year medical student from Liverpool. When Frazer is not taking care of patients and studying, he’s out climbing mount snowdon (his favourite obviously) and doing his favourite happiness activity? I wonder what it could be.
It's so important as a medical student and a care giver to be kind to yourself as much as you would to your patients. Through daily self care practices, you can find joy in the hardest of times and Frazer explains more in this conversation.
We also talk about an incredible charity we both support called OVER THE WALL CHILDREN'S CHARITY, if you are interested in finding out more - head to OTW.ORG.UK.
[Content warning: References to suicide and mental health challenges as a healthcare worker]
If you require support please do seek help from a health professional, speak to someone you trust or contact charities such as Mind UK or Samaritans for support. If you feel like you are in danger or someone you know is in danger, please contact the emergency services on 999/111.
In the UK, the Samaritans can be contacted on 116 123. In the US, The National Suicide Prevention Hotline is 1-800-273-8255. In Austrailia, the crisp support service is on 13 11 14.
Thank you so much Frazer, for sharing your Wisdom! Please share this with anyone that you think would find this conversation helpful.
