Hudgins was a standout guard at Northwest Missouri State University where he was named the NCAA Division II Player of the Year in back-to-back seasons in 2021 and 2022, and was named the MIAA Player of the Year in three straight seasons from 2020 to 2022. In 2022, Hudgins was named the Small College Basketball Bevo Francis Award winner
