This week, as a lovely pairing with our last episode on the Stephen Sondheim masterpiece: Company, the gays are taking a left turn into the spoof realm. Today, they’re talking about the episode from season three, of the hilarious mockumentary comedy series: Documentary Now, which gives the fictionalized account of the cast recording of the (very) short-lived Broadway musical: CO-OP! The episode is itself, a parody of the documentary about the grueling recording of the original cast album of Company. The hilarious score for CO-OP (not COOP), was partially written by comedic geniuses Seth Meyers and John Mulaney (who also plays a parody of Sondheim to great effect). The gays talk about the amazing cast, which includes a mix of comedians and Broadway celebs such as: Renee Elise Goldsberry, Alex Brightman, Paula Pell, Richard Kind, and more! Arron and Zacary go through all the hilarious songs, and of course rate the episode on the trusty “Gay-o-meter”. To close out the show, it’s Arron’s turn to surprise Zacary with a surprise video for them to watch and react to! It’s a real fun, Broadway romp today, so be sure to tune in!
